Gajera International School, Utran believes in nurturing the potential of its learners and providing them with ample opportunities to develop their leadership skills. To promote this objective, the school recently conducted Students’ Council Elections, allowing learners s to actively participate in the democratic process and take on important roles within the school community.

The election process began with a call for nominations, inviting learners to put themselves forward for positions such as Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captain, and Discipline In-charge etc. among others. Interested learners were then interviewed by a panel consisting of the Principal, Vice-Principal, and Sports Head. This rigorous selection process ensured that candidates were evaluated based on their qualifications, capabilities, and suitability for the respective positions.

Following the interviews, candidates were given a designated period for campaigning. This allowed them to present their ideas, plans, and visions for the school to their fellow learners. Campaigning activities included speeches, poster displays, and engaging interactions, which not only helped candidates showcase their leadership potential but also allowed the student body to make informed decisions during the voting process.

On Election Day, learners arrived at the polling booth to cast their votes. To ensure the integrity of the process, each learner's finger was marked to indicate that they had voted. This system not only maintained the confidentiality of the ballot but also prevented any instances of double voting or fraud. It was heartening to witness the enthusiasm and interest among the students as they exercised their right to vote and actively participated in shaping the future leadership of their school.

The completion of the voting process marked the beginning of the counting phase. The election committee, comprising responsible faculty members, diligently tallied the votes and ensured an unbiased and transparent counting procedure.

The results were scheduled to be announced during a special assembly, creating a sense of anticipation and excitement among the entire school community. The student council elections at Gajera International School serve as an excellent platform for promoting leadership among learners. By actively involving learners in the decision-making process, the school encourages them to develop vital skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, and responsibility. It fosters a culture of democratic values and prepares learners for their future roles as active and engaged citizens.

Beyond promoting leadership skills, these elections also encourage healthy competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Candidates learn the value of fair play and grace in both victory and defeat. The election process not only instills a sense of responsibility in the elected student leaders but also reminds all participants that their contribution to the school community matters, regardless of the outcome.
