Virtual Events in 2021: The Annual Sports Meet
The value of face-to-face interaction will never go away, but there are times when going virtual is a necessary part of your event program.
Sports Day is one of the favourite events in the school calendar. Sport plays an important role in improving physical and mental health of children, and fostering active citizenship and social inclusion. It enhances children's development and their learning, thereby encouraging better academic performance. This year we decided to hold a Virtual Sports Meet on 6th January 2021 , Wednesday so that every learner can take part at home. The main aim was to have fun and to keep the learners active and safe, only using common household items.
The programme began with the impressive March Past and lighting of the torch by the educators and the Principal, Mrs. Sharmila Thakur. Different challenging physical activities were planned by the educator’s which can all be done with no equipment or things they can find around the home. These activities sensitized the children about sports and games which play a crucial role in the integrated development of the children. We have picked out few skill activities which focus on the fundamental movement skills we teach through the PE Curriculum as well as some ideas for improving the motor skills.
The games like, Coin and Circle, Fix the Pencil in the Bowl of Rice, Fold the Clothes, Wear the Socks, Join and Count, Cloth, Clips, Arrange the Coin in the Circle, Blow the Glass with the Help of Straw. Make the letter with Matchsticks, Collect the Ball With Knee etc were played by the tiny tots with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
